Overview of the BA 747
British Airways now has thirty-one 747-400s with fifty-two Club World seats and plans to retrofit all their 747s with a state-of-the-art interior design. As the British Airways 747-400 seating plan shows, the airplane is a delight for passengers; it has additional storage space in front of the window in the top deck Club World seats and other amenities for passengers’ comfort.
The two versions of this plane comprise four cabins. However, there is a slight disparity in their arrangement and number of seats. In the first version of the 747 400, there are 14 open suite seats in the First, 36 recliner seats in World Traveler Plus, 52 flatbed seats in the Club World, and 243 standard seats in the World Traveler.
The British Airways Boeing 747 seat plan for the second version of the aircraft features 14 First class open suite seats, 86 flatbed seats in the Club World, 30 recliner seats in the World Traveler Plus, and 145 standard World Traveler seats.
Audio and video on demand are available on all flights on this plane. For starters, 110V AC power outlets are available at all First, Club World Business, and World Traveler Plus seats. Boeing 747 British Airways (747-400): Layout 1
First
The British Airways First Class 747 has an impressive arrangement. The settings of the seats assure passengers of comfort. No seat in the cabin has any noticeable disadvantage. The cabin’s open suite seats offer privacy to passengers.
For passengers traveling with their partners, the middle seats comprising 4EF and 5EF are more suitable since there is no chance of seating with your partner in other seats. In addition, all seats in the cabin feature an AC power outlet and on-demand TV, ensuring that you enjoy premium entertainment while you fly to your destination.
World Traveler Plus
The British Airways Boeing 747 seating plan has the World Traveler Plus cabin directly behind the First cabin. The first-row seats have certain downsides that make them slightly uncomfortable. These seats comprise 11JK, 12AB, and 12DEFG. These seats are too close to the lavatories and galley. Their armrests are immovable, and they have lesser seat width thanks to the tray tables in their armrests. Also, these seats do not have floor storage during landing and takeoff.
Despite their downsides, the first-row seats are ideal. If you need a seat with extra legroom, the first-row seats are suitable. The last row seats are also slightly undesirable because of their closeness to the lavatories and galley.
Club World
The Club World cabin is directly behind the World Traveler Plus seats. As one would expect, these seats offer comfort and privacy. The seating arrangement is impressive; all the seats have enough room for passengers to stretch their legs and be comfortable.
All the seats in this cabin are flatbed seats with amenities that will keep you comfortable as you fly to your destination. According to the Ba 747 seat map, some seats are rear-facing while others are forward-facing.
Passengers traveling with companions will find the middle seats, seats EF, most suitable. However, if you are flying alone, it is best to avoid them since they do not offer privacy.
If you plan to fly in this cabin, it is best to avoid seats 17BD and 17GJ. These seats, though comfortable, are too close to the lavatories.
World Traveller
The World Traveler cabin of the British Airways 747 400 is behind the Club World cabin. The first-row seats of this cabin are not the best for several reasons. Because of their attached tray tables, these seats have smaller widths and immovable armrests. Due to the exits close to these seats, passengers may feel cold and uncomfortable.
Seats 29A and 29K are good seats because of their extra legroom. However, they have lesser seat width and immovable armrests. Also, there is storage in any of these seats during landing and takeoff.
The proximity to the lavatories, galleys, and limited recline make the 37th-row seats undesirable. Furthermore, it is best to avoid 40th-row seats; while the seats have extra leg space, they are too close to the lavatories and galley. Also, they have smaller widths and immovable armrests due to the tray tables in their armrests and the lack of storage space.
British Airways 747 (747-400): Layout 2
First
The arrangement of the First cabin of the British Airways Boeing 747 provides a level of privacy to occupants. The open suite seats feature on-demand television and AC power outlets. All these seats in the cabin are standard with no noticeable downsides except for the last row of seats comprising 5A, 5EF, and 5J. These seats are undesirable because of the closeness to the lavatories and galleys.
Club World
The World Traveler cabin of the 747 400 has an impressive arrangement deliberately to offer passengers more comfort and privacy. According to the BA seating plan 747, some seats are rear-facing while others are forward-facing. Seats in the first row, comprising 12JK, 13B, 13D, and 13G, are undesirable due to their proximity to the lavatories and galley.
Seats in the center, EF seats, are best for individuals traveling with company. On top of that, because of their proximity to the restrooms and galley, some 14th and 17th-row seats, 14BD, 14GJ, 17AB, 17DEFG, and 17JK, are unsuitable.
World Traveler Plus
There is little difference between the World Traveler Plus and the World Traveler cabins. Regarding seating arrangement, they are the same; their difference is in terms of in-flight amenities.
Per the British Airways 747 seat plan, passengers in the first row will enjoy more leg space due to the position of the bulkhead. For a better seating experience, passengers can avoid the last row seats of this cabin since they are all close to the lavatories and galleys.
World Traveller
In the BA Boeing 747-400 seating plan, the World Traveler seats are behind the World Traveler Plus cabin. If you need extra legroom, you can choose any of the 40th-row seats. Apart from seats 40A and 40B, the other seats in the row are undesirable due to the proximity of the lavatories and galleys.
Seats 53BC, 53HJ, and 55DEFG are unsuitable. According to the BA 747 400 seating plan, these seats are the worst in the cabin due to their limited recline and proximity to the lavatories and galleys.
